Confidence is key. Deep breaths. Don't forget why you here? Who has ever tried to race a car? Only thousands upon thousands, but did any have his same reasons. One hundred miles per hour, on dusty back road, cars lined up for two miles waiting to see. Everyone waited anxiously. Some standing in alert poses as others spread out on the hoods of their cars hoping to see a good race. Chase slides into his metallic black Ferrari. Why wouldn't he want to show off. The key slides easily in and suddenly the engine roars to life beneath him. Power. He felt as though he had power. He needed this power to win Leah back. She had left him because she thought he was worth nothing. He was going to show her that he was worth it all. He would win the prize money. Ready, set, go! His engine growled as the car lurched forward into what felt like lightening speed. He needed her back. She was everything to him. Why did she hate him? His hands trembled on the steering wheel as the entire car was vibrating. Why wouldn't she see that they belonged together? Her image came into his mind. He forced it back out and concentrated on the race. The speedometer read a hundred and ten miles per hour. It didn't feel fast enough. He needed to go faster. He slammed down on the gas as hard as possible. In that moment time seemed to freeze. Her image creeped back into his mind. Her curly brown hair was falling over her face. His hands reached up to brush it away. Screech. His eyes opened suddenly as the world seemed to become silent. Glass flew everywhere. Still he could feel nothing. Then no more movement. Blackness.
When he came around he could hear a multitude of voices around him. They didn't make any sense. He wanted them to slow down. Why weren't they listening to him? Still black. He couldn't see a thing. Then he felt everything. There was a sharp rising pain from his knee to his neck. It felt as though someone was stabbing him with an undeniable aggression. Then he felt the pain in his head. It felt as though someone had tried to split wood off his forehead. The pain wouldn't go away. Leah. Ouch. Where was Leah? He had seen her. Was she safe? Was he dreaming? What happened? People still spoke in crazed voices. Why wasn't anyone answering him? Then the pain suddenly became beyond unbearable. A scream tore through his throat. The voices were disappearing. Love you Leah. Blackness.
